If you’re bored with buying the same old chocolate birthday cake every year, why not try a novelty cake? Some cakes aren’t just meant to be desserts. Dramatic, over-the-top cakes are meant to steal the spotlight! Trust bespoke novelty cakes to wow your guests as well as yourself. Read on for some ideas, and ask a trusted North Brisbane baker to make your birthday extra special for you this year.
1. Dripping Gold Cake
Champagne wishes come alive! This cake screams expensive without you uttering a word. Food-grade gold metallic drips fall on black tiers made of dark chocolate. It is perfect for when you want a luxe, glamorous birthday. Be prepared to watch your guests’ jaws drop before they even grab a bite.
2. Suspended Gravity-Defying Candy Cake
Picture a chocolate ganache-covered cake with a shower of colourful candies frozen mid-air! The secret would lie in a clear acrylic rod hidden within the cake structure. This would support the cascade of M&Ms or other custom-coloured candies. Opt for this, and leave both young and old in awe.
3. Mirror Glaze Galaxy Swirl Cake
This cosmic confection contains a mirror-glaze surface that reflects light marvellously. Features beautiful glassy exterior swirls in blues, teals, and purples. These are marbled with silver and white streaks. Precise temperature control while pouring the glaze is what makes or breaks it.
4. Fault Line Sprinkle Explosion Cake
This novelty cake screams party time! A thick band of rainbow sprinkles erupts between two smooth, colourful layers of buttercream. Prepare for guests to lose their minds once they see it in person. The beauty lies in its meticulously controlled craftsmanship.
5. Sculpted Book Stack Cake For Bookworms
This edible book stack will be a dream for literature lovers everywhere. Each “book” is an individual layer of cake covered in fondant. Edible markers and hand-drawn art create and mimic book spines. Have the books customised with actual titles that are meaningful to you.
6. Brushstroke Chocolate Feather Cake
Delicate, bold brushstrokes encircle this cake like abstract feathers. Each piece is individually hand-painted on parchment paper and chilled until set. These are then carefully arranged around the frosted cake tiers. When cut, the chocolate pieces gloriously shatter, adding to the birthday excitement.
7. Balloon Mosaic Number Cake
This showstopper is shaped like the birthday person’s new age number(s) and covered with a mosaic of buttercream balloons. These balloons would be piped in gradient colour patterns. The cake colours can match the party theme or recreate significant patterns from the birthday person’s life.
Such fun novelty cake ideas immediately make an average birthday memorable. Go ahead and try a novelty cake for yourself or your loved ones this year. Wow your family and friends alike! Make this a birthday to remember.
